This sounds like me

One of these may sound familiar.

“I can’t coordinate”
You feel your body goes one way and the music another, and that everyone understands something you don’t.

“I’m stiff”
The movement doesn’t come loosely, and that feeling stops you before you try.

“I’ve never danced”
You have no previous experience and you don’t know where to start.

“I keep putting it off”
You’ve wanted to start for a while and something else always comes first.

“I find it hard to keep going”
You’ve started things before and haven’t managed to keep them up.

Keeping it up

Perhaps it isn’t the wish that’s missing. It’s a space that helps you hold on to it.

Perhaps you’ve started things before and let them go.

Perhaps another priority always appears.

Or you simply want a moment of your own that combines movement, learning and enjoyment.

In Your First Movement you don’t just get a class: you get a structure and accompaniment to practise, progress and recognise how far you’ve come.

Move. Learn. Enjoy. Progress. Without having to do it alone.

What I’ll learn

You start precisely because you don’t know yet.

You learn samba from the foundations: music, pulse, movement and coordination.

Coordination is built as you practise. It isn’t a requirement to begin.

First you understand what you’re doing; then the movement loosens, at your own pace.

What you’ll develop

Where the journey takes you.

RHYTHM AND MUSICALITY

Hearing the pulse and starting to answer it with your body.

TECHNIQUE AND COORDINATION

Taking on the foundations of samba step by step and organising the movement.

CONFIDENCE IN LEARNING

Being able to repeat, get it wrong and move on without needing it to be perfect.

AUTONOMY

Relying less and less on copying and starting to make your own decisions as you dance.

By the end of the three months you’ll have built samba foundations, worked on rhythm, coordination and movement, and developed greater confidence and autonomy to dance and keep practising.

The process also aims for you to recognise your progress and your own resources, and to discover that what today you think “isn’t for you” can start to become possible.

How we’ll work

How we work.

LEARN You learn samba from the foundations: music, pulse, movement and coordination.
OBSERVE As you learn, you notice what comes up when something works… and when it doesn’t.
EXPERIMENT You try other ways through the mistake, the frustration or the “I can’t”.
INTEGRATE You recognise what you learned, which resource appeared, and how to keep moving.

More than learning steps

While you learn samba, we also look at what comes up in the face of mistakes, pressure, frustration or the “I can’t”, and which of your own resources you begin to recognise. That is where I bring my training in ontological and body coaching into the learning process.

Why Naty

Who will be with you.

I’m Naty Ferrer. I dance and teach samba, and for more than 25 years dance and movement have been part of my life.

Today I bring those worlds together in Samba la Vida, to help you learn samba in a way that is simple, gradual and human.

In their words

I felt really good… I need to connect with my body and the present to relax… it helped me a lot to shift my energy between the beginning and the end of the class. And I can see it could help me with confidence, which is what I’d like to work on: not being afraid, and daring to express and assert myself.

Thank you so much Naty for that shared moment.

“They were lovely, fun classes. They helped me with my mood, my balance and my coordination.

To anyone thinking of starting I’d say do it, because it’s fun, it helps your coordination and it lifts your mood and your self-esteem. Samba is the best!”

“When I met Naty I was at a point where I found it hard to find the energy and motivation to do things for myself.

Then I went to her sessions and something started to change. I began to move more, to do things and to give myself that space. While I was in the class, for a while I forgot about everything else.

What stands out most about Naty is the way she accompanies you. It isn’t just turn up, do the class and that’s it: she pays attention to how you are, she listens, and she gives off a really lovely energy.

For me that’s what makes the difference: it isn’t only the class, it’s how you feel while you’re doing it.”

“My experience with Naty was hugely rewarding. At that point she became my coach, my mentor and my guide.

It changed how I hold myself in front of other people and also when I dance samba: I’m less inhibited, I can let my body flow more without thinking so much about what others will say.

I discovered how much our own thoughts can limit us, and how that shows up in movement and in the way we express ourselves.

After that I started daring to do more: I entered a competition, I went to a casting, and I’m still practising samba because I really want to keep learning. Something in me changed, thanks to Naty’s accompaniment and also to my own decision to keep betting on myself.”

Frequently asked questions

What almost everyone asks before starting.

What day and time is the group session?

Saturdays at 11am, Argentina time — 10am US Eastern and 3pm in the UK. Both shift by an hour when the clocks change: from Saturday 31 October in the UK and Europe, and from Saturday 7 November in the US.

Do I have to start exactly on 3 October 2026?

No. Group classes begin on 3 October 2026, but you can join later while there is still room. From the moment you come in, we start accompanying your own journey.

What are the live sessions like?

They’re on Zoom and interactive: we dance together, I can watch your movement, give you feedback and accompany you in real time.

Do I need to have my camera on?

The classes are live on Zoom and we dance together: I see you, I give you feedback and I accompany you in the moment. To be able to give you personalised feedback, I need to be able to see you while you practise.

What if I miss a class?

The class is recorded, and you also have the platform, the micro-practices and the accompaniment to carry on. Missing one session doesn’t put you outside the process.

I have an injury or pain. Can I take part?

If you have an injury, persistent pain or any medical guidance, it’s important to tell me before we start so I can know your situation and take it into account. Where necessary, I’ll ask you to check with your health professional first. During classes, no movement that causes pain is ever forced.

What do I need at home to practise?

A space where you can move comfortably and stretch your arms out to the sides and forwards. No special equipment is needed.

Is samba danced alone or with a partner?

Samba no pé, which is what we work on here, is danced alone and on the spot: it’s the samba of the passistas of the Rio Carnival. The one danced in a couple, in hold, is a different thing — samba de gafieira, which shares the music but not the technique. So if what you’re looking for is dancing as a pair, this isn’t it.

Never danced?

You don’t need to have. You start precisely because you don’t know yet. We go from the foundations.

Can’t coordinate?

Coordination is built. It’s part of what you’ll learn, not a requirement to begin.

Feel stiff?

Stiffness doesn’t leave you out. We work the movement little by little, at your pace.

And why not now?

If you’ve wanted to dance for a long time, you don’t need to wait until you feel coordinated, confident or “ready”.

You can start from where you are.

Life isn’t for postponing.

Have you danced samba before?

Classes, calls and support are provided in Spanish. If you are unsure, say so here — we will talk about it.

After sending you will be able to choose the day and time of the call with Natalia. We use your details only to reply to you.

Leave your details and we’ll arrange a conversation to get to know you and see whether Your First Movement is right for you.

Group classes begin on 3 October 2026. After that, you can join while there is still room in the group.

If you were looking for an online samba course or samba classes for beginners, this is exactly that: a journey to learn to dance samba from scratch, in Spanish and at your own pace.
