About Naty

I’m Naty Ferrer.

I’m Naty Ferrer. I dance and teach samba, and for more than 25 years dance and movement have been part of my life.

My path through the Rio Carnival began in 2020, and it also includes training in ontological body coaching, NLP and body work.

Today I bring those worlds together in Samba la Vida, to help you learn samba in a way that is simple, gradual and human.

Why I teach this way

Teaching is the part I care about most.

Learning samba isn’t copying a step until it comes out right. It’s understanding what your body is doing, why it’s doing it, and how to hold it when the music changes.

That’s why I work in four stages: learn, observe, experiment, integrate. Samba first, always. The rest appears on its own.

Historia

Three sentences I hear over and over.

“I don’t have the body for it”

It’s the first one that comes up. I know that sentence from the inside, and what I see again and again is that the body isn’t a requirement you bring with you: it’s something built while you move.

“It’s too late”

It’s said with great conviction, as if there were an exact moment that has already passed. Nobody arrives late to their own body.

“This isn’t for me”

Sometimes it’s the feeling of watching from outside something that seems to belong to other people. I teach precisely so that breaks.

Because I also had to find the courage to take my own steps. And today I want to help you take yours.

I felt really good… I need to connect with my body and the present to relax… it helped me a lot to shift my energy between the beginning and the end of the class. And I can see it could help me with confidence, which is what I’d like to work on: not being afraid, and daring to express and assert myself.

Thank you so much Naty for that shared moment.

“They were lovely, fun classes. They helped me with my mood, my balance and my coordination.

To anyone thinking of starting I’d say do it, because it’s fun, it helps your coordination and it lifts your mood and your self-esteem. Samba is the best!”

“When I met Naty I was at a point where I found it hard to find the energy and motivation to do things for myself.

Then I went to her sessions and something started to change. I began to move more, to do things and to give myself that space. While I was in the class, for a while I forgot about everything else.

What stands out most about Naty is the way she accompanies you. It isn’t just turn up, do the class and that’s it: she pays attention to how you are, she listens, and she gives off a really lovely energy.

For me that’s what makes the difference: it isn’t only the class, it’s how you feel while you’re doing it.”

“My experience with Naty was hugely rewarding. At that point she became my coach, my mentor and my guide.

It changed how I hold myself in front of other people and also when I dance samba: I’m less inhibited, I can let my body flow more without thinking so much about what others will say.

I discovered how much our own thoughts can limit us, and how that shows up in movement and in the way we express ourselves.

After that I started daring to do more: I entered a competition, I went to a casting, and I’m still practising samba because I really want to keep learning. Something in me changed, thanks to Naty’s accompaniment and also to my own decision to keep betting on myself.”
